About the Fashion Awards
On December 4, 2017, the cream of international fashion descends on London for the British Fashion Council’s annual Fashion Awards, which celebrate the fashion industry’s achievements over the past year. “[Nominated] designers and brands were chosen from hundreds of international names,” says BFC Chairwoman Natalie Massenet. “They represent the most creative talent and innovative businesses of the year.”
In addition to recognizing the biggest contributors to the fashion industry, the Fashion Awards also raise funds for the BFC’s Education Foundation, a scholarship and bursary charity for future fashion industry leaders. By supporting students in London whose ability to study fashion may be impacted by escalating tuition fees and living expenses, the BFC aims to safeguard the future of British fashion.
The awards are arranged into 14 categories, with prizes awarded to fashion houses, designers and models. All nominees attend and guests can expect to enjoy a glass of Champagne with fashion’s top names, including supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid, Adwoa Aboah, Winnie Harlow and Kaia Gerber. The editor-in-chief of American Vogue and Forbes’ Most Powerful Woman in Entertainment, Anna Wintour OBE, will also be in attendance. You can buy tickets for the Fashion Awards or book a box online.

Long before London Fashion Week and the Fashion Awards became staples in the fashion calendar, London’s unconventional style captured the world’s attention. From Mary Quant’s daring mini-skirt, an icon of the “swinging ’60s”, to Alexander McQueen’s subversive collections in the 2000s, the city is known as the most artistic of the world’s four fashion capitals (New York, London, Paris and Milan).
In addition to the Fashion Awards, why not extend your trip and uncover more of London’s cultural treasures in the city’s prestigious museums? The legendary Victoria & Albert (V&A) on South Kensington’s grand museum stretch was labeled “a cathedral of creativity” by Time Out Magazine, and houses one of the world’s greatest collections of fashion, textiles, furniture, photography, jewelry and fine art; while the imposing Tate Modern is renowned for its edgy exhibitions showcasing contemporary art and boasts a swanky members’ bar with unrivalled views of London’s skyline and the River Thames.
London is one of the street art capitals of the world, featuring work by Banksy, Phlegm, Robbo and Stik. Discover Alternative London’s street art highlights with a tour of East London’s graffiti hotspots. If you feel like getting creative yourself, after-tour workshops teach the basics of spray painting.
